Through intensive studio practice, critical theory, core courses, and a range of electives, students are guided to identify, develop, and articulate their artistic voice, areas of interest, and creative strengths. This comprehensive approach enables each learner to build a distinctive professional identity within the broader practice of visual arts, equipping them to position themselves confidently in fields such as fine arts, illustration, design, art education, and cultural practice.
In a world flooded with data and information the graduate of IDPT, SCET will be able to synthesize information and convert it to knowledge, through a process rich in critical thinking and appropriate expression in keeping with the benevolent and progressive Sarvajanik tradition of Inclusive education, Diversity of students, Inculcation of respect, Civic participation and Community inclusivity, shall be seeded in the young minds that meet here. The distribution of courses ensures progressive development of student potential. Along with core courses of Art and History, Humanities, Liberal studies and life skills, a plethora of professional and open electives promote inter-disciplinary learning. An integrated approach synonymous with multidisciplinary understanding is crucial to encourage Integrated and critical thinking, to build linkages between diverse academic inputs and practices. A wide array of professional and open electives promotes interdisciplinary exploration, encouraging students to build connections across fields, media, and modes of expression. This integrated and critical approach fosters the ability to analyze diverse
perspectives and create contextually relevant artistic responses. Objective: The BVA program aims to nurture visually sophisticated artists who are intellectually driven, ethically conscious, and culturally aware. Students will be trained to express their unique ideas confidently, while considering the historical, social, and cultural contexts of their work.
Course Duration: BVA is a 4-year full-time course. The first year is a common foundation, followed by three years of specialization. After the foundation year, students may choose from the following specializations based on seat availability and departmental criteria:

APPLIE ARTS l PAINTING l SCULPTURE
APPLIE ARTS
The Applied Arts specialization focuses on the creative application of visual communication principles to real-world contexts. Students explore illustration, graphic communication, digital media, typography, visual storytelling, and other contemporary practices while developing strong conceptual, technical, and aesthetic skills. Through studio-based projects, interdisciplinary electives, research, and practical applications, learners are encouraged to understand how art can communicate ideas, address social and cultural concerns, and respond to contemporary professional needs. The specialization nurtures creative problem-solving, critical thinking, experimentation, and professional awareness, preparing students for careers in illustration, visual communication, digital art, publishing, advertising, exhibition design, and related creative industries.
PAINTING
The Painting specialization develops students’ ability to explore painting as a medium for personal expression, critical inquiry, and cultural engagement. Students build a strong foundation in drawing, colour, composition, material exploration, and traditional painting techniques while also engaging with contemporary approaches, mixed media, experimentation, and conceptual practices. Through intensive studio practice, art history, critical reflection, research, and independent projects, learners are encouraged to develop their own artistic language and respond thoughtfully to social, cultural, emotional, and environmental contexts. The specialization aims to cultivate technically proficient, intellectually engaged, and visually expressive artists who can establish a distinctive practice within contemporary painting and the broader field of visual arts.
SCULPTURE
The Sculpture specialization introduces students to three-dimensional thinking through the exploration of form, space, material, process, and context. Students engage with traditional and contemporary sculptural practices, working with a range of materials and techniques while developing an understanding of structure, scale, texture, spatial relationships, and installation. Studio-based learning is supported by research, critical analysis, interdisciplinary exploration, and experimentation, enabling students to investigate sculpture as both a physical and conceptual practice. The specialization encourages students to develop individual artistic approaches while responding to cultural, social, environmental, and public contexts, preparing them for professional practices in sculpture, installation, public art, spatial practices, and related fields.
