Our History
MITRAJ Sarvajanik Institute of Design, Planning & Technology (MS-IDPT) was established in 1995 with the objective of providing quality professional education in architecture and design. Initially focused on Architecture, the Institute gradually expanded its academic portfolio to include Urban Design, Interior Design, Urban & Regional Planning, and Visual Arts, evolving into a multidisciplinary centre for design education.
The Bachelor of Architecture programme commenced in 1995, followed by the Master of Architecture (Urban Design) in 2007. In 2021, the Institute introduced the Bachelor and Master of Interior Design and Master in Urban Regional Planning, followed by the Bachelor in Visual Arts in 2022.
With its transition as a constituent institution of Sarvajanik University, MS-IDPT entered a new phase of academic autonomy and growth, adopting a student-centric, choice-based and interdisciplinary curriculum incorporating Liberal Studies, Humanities, Life Skills, Professional and Transdisciplinary Electives.
Over the years, the Institute has established a strong identity through academic excellence, professional consultancy, research, international collaborations, industry engagement, community initiatives and global exposure. Its Faculty of Architecture has produced 25 graduating batches and has received the Reuben’s’ Trophy for Best Academic Work for 18 consecutive years, while the School of Planning has received recognition from NoPlan.Today, MS-IDPT serves more than 1,000 students across its four constituent schools Architecture, Interior Design, Planning and Fine Arts—and continues its journey towards creating innovative, socially responsible and globally competent design professionals.
