MS-IDPT is a premier Education Institution started in 1995 and today imparts world class Design Education in the fields of Architecture, Interior Design, Fine Arts and Planning to more than 1000 students. MS-IDPT is a constituent Institution of Sarvajanik University, made up of Four Design Colleges, viz.

AAERT & The Sarvodaya Sahakari Bank Faculty of Architecture has earned a place at both, National and International level, as one of the premier institutions imparting holistic education for aspiring architects. 25 batches have already graduated and the alumni have made remarkable contributions at National and International level both in practice as well as academics. A high percentage of graduates opting for post graduate education is a marker of success for the institute and points to igniting a passion for continued learning. At the onset when the institute with the new name, MITRAJ Sarvajanik Institute of Design Planning & Technology (MS-IDPT) is having freedom to formulate and execute its progressive and liberal syllabus, it becomes even more pertinent to plan for syllabus content that is both meaningful and relevant for the undergraduate programme in Architecture. A rich blend of experience and expertise among a strong faculty strength, IDPT has started its voyage for the new era by becoming a constituent of the Sarvajanik University. A student centric choice based approach is the foundation of the formulation of the course along with liberal studies education, it became the distinctive attribute that MS-IDPT offers to its students.

An Integrated approach synonymous with trans-disciplinary understanding is crucial to encourage Integrated and critical thinking, to build linkages between diverse academic inputs and practices. Students utilize varied contradictory perspectives to understand current problems and positions contextually and seek Integrated solutions to build a Happy Society, intrinsic to the stated Vision. Various professional ability and skill enhancement subjects are ensured to build a syllabus that allows all students to chalk out their own roadmap  as per interests and emerge as unique and responsible architects with a keen sensibility for societal issues. Innovation is valued as a catalyst to growth. Through innovative approaches to pedagogy, the transaction of curriculum will be based on the principle of joyful learning thereby achieving better learning outcomes. The aim of the program is to develop each budding architect’s metacognitive skills, manage learning strategies and direct the learning processes towards meaningful design solutions. It is indeed a matter of pride that its Faculty of Architecture has been consistently ranking as the Best School of Architecture in the whole country and this rank is given by none other but the central Apex body – Council of Architecture. It has been winner of Reubens’ Trophy for 18 consecutive times for the Best Academic Work done, in the entire country.

The School of Planning of MS-IDPT too has been awarded the Best School of Planning for the past two years by the National Organization of Students of Planning (NoSPlan). Fueled with the spirit of excellence and commitment, the Institution has transcended all boundaries and have signed MoUs for students’ exchange, faculties’ exchange and joint academic programmes with the Best Well-known International Universities globally. And it is with matter of pride that MS-IDPT is the only Institution, who has begged three Research Projects funded by European Union under the Erasmus Research Projects. With very strong local ties and International relationship, MS-IDPT has cultivated the philosophy of Internationalization, thereby putting its academic curricula and teaching pedagogy at par with global universities. With global exposure programme, it has exposed its students to more than 100 domestic destinations all over the country and more than 50 countries globally. Converting this study tour into a detailed documentation process have trained students into keen observers, avid travelers and some evolved global citizens.

Besides academic excellence and research, MS-IDPT is very professionally evolved as Project Consultant to Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. (TCGL), Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), Collector – Surat, Collector – Mandvi, etc. and has executed the projects like, Master Plan of Saputara Development, Development of Rama Trail, (Development of Rameshwar, - Mandvi, Unai Temple Campus, Anjankund, Pampa Sarovar, Shabridham etc.) Tapi Riverfront Development - Surat, Development of Heritage precinct – Chowk, Surat, Suvali Sea-front Development, Tapi Riverfront Development - Mandvi, etc. Thereby giving real–time exposure of profession and industries to the students. Besides consultancy, the faculty and students of MS-IDPT are compassionately involved in Community Services and has undertaken projects like, Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education to Stimulate Lifelong Sustainable Learning Opportunities, Institution collaboration between UHCRCE and IDPT for “Child Friendly Smart City”, It has joined hands in association with NIUA to build up and strengthen national, regional and community level capacity, Institution collaboration with other institutions / civil society on the subject of climate change Between UHCRC &SCET, CSS, USHAA-NIWCD, etc. and creating ultimately corpus, which enables distribution of scholarships to deserving students by way of fee waiver or cash awards. It is an Institution, which believes in all round development of students and today, its alumni boasts of winning more than 70% of the National Design Awards given away by IIA, IIID, etc. making it one of the most successful Design Institute of the country.
